G+_Joel G. J
Cisco AnyConnect on Windows 10 Slow Ring Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ Bryan Burnett Currently running Windows 10 Slow Ring up to date with latest updates. However, the software required to connect to my University WiFi is saying I do not have the WannaCry patch and says I am not compliant. Consulted the IT Dept (as a student) and they said to install AntiVirus that "Scans for WannaCry". Currently have Malwarebytes installed, but does not satisfy requirement. Any good AntiVirus software that can satisfy this requirement without being too taxing on the system?
G+_Travis Hershberger
Frankly, sounds like incompetent IT department. Windows Defender protects against known threats like WannaCry. I'd ask them why I have to purchase something else.

G+_Joel G. J
Also, the backend of the IT department is managed by a company called Cerner.
G+_Joel G. J
At least as a student, I have the "opportunity" to use Symantec, but it is resource intensive...
G+_Travis Hershberger
Symantec is a known security problem. ALL kinds of wrong here.
G+_Ben Reese
Yeah, sounds pretty dumb to me. It goes along with the old requirement that passwords get changed every 90 days. (which reminds me, I have a week to do that on 6 different accounts at work ?) There's probably other things they do, but Cerner is mostly known for there medical charting software. I believe they're based here in Kansas City. They have several buildings around town.
G+_Jeff Gros
It's been quite a while since recent coverage, but isn't this a non-issue for windows 10? I agree with other posters though. Try enabling window defender if you haven't already. I'm a bit confused how they would know about you not having the patch though. Did you have to install or run something? G+_Joel G. J
I have to run AnyConnect on my computer to get the connection with the wireless with the University. The scanner in that software says I am not patched.
G+_todd zimmerman
If you're not patched, the run windows updaye. ( I don't recall the KB# for the wannacry patch)
G+_Joel G. J
But I am up to date according to Windows Update.
G+_Jeff Gros
Ah, anyconnect. That explains it. We'll I'm betting its the lack of virus scanner then. See if windows defender fixes it. I have a similar situation at work with VPNs. They require a virus scanner. It's basically a checkbox that must be checked. The software is just going through a set of rules (checking those boxes). My bet is that it was updated to check for wannacry protection and it is looking for a virus scanner with the correct definitions and its reporting failure if you don't have a virus scanner in the first place.
