G+_610GARAGE
So I have some server motherboards and other computer components that need to be properly stored. Because they are backup parts for servers at my parents company; that I work at; I don't want to just throw them in a draw with only an anti static bag to protect them. Any suggestions. Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ and Bryan Burnett Maybe you guys could do a segment on how you store your computer components and cables. I actually find ziplock bags to work great with organizing cables. But I would be interested in what you guys do.
G+_Joe Phelps
Do you have the original boxes?
G+_610GARAGE
Nope. Some I got off of ebay, so I never had any original packing. Others came out of systems that were being used at one point, and since they were being stored inside of a computer case, being utilized; I through out the boxes to keep clutter down. Oh the irony. G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
My personal preference is anti-stat bags (Ziplock bags can build up a static charge) inside of Plastic closet organizer boxes.
G+_Donald Burr
Also if you have them, maybe drop one of those moisture absorbing packs in with the board as well. (but only if you can get new/clean ones, i.e. DON'T reuse the ones that came in your bag of beef jerky, there's nothing worse than beef jerky smelling motherboards, ugh...but more to the point, any flavoring/sugar/crud/etc. that might be stuck onto that used moisture absorbers can't be good for your hardware)
G+_610GARAGE
Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ Do you stack the boards inside the container. The reason I ask is because I thought about doing something similar, but I am afraid that the boards could get jostled around and knock something off. Though I could separate the boards by bubble wrap, or foam. Then again, am I just being paranoid. I am however kind of shocked that there isn't more out there in the way of computer parts storage. I thought that this would be an issue for allot of people. And Just to be clear, I only use ziplock bags for cables. I would never put a electronics inside a ziplock bag.
