G+_610GARAGE
A couple of days ago I posted about using an old phone as a ip camera to monitor my powder coating oven temperature. The rims that I was powdercoating are done and I thought I would share the final product, though it didn't turn out great. But at no fault of the phone. :) Originally shared by 610GARAGE Rims are done, or are they? The first group was pretty good, but the second batch didn't turn out so well. There's contaminations from my gloves, the primer clumped up in certain areas, and some spots didn't get covered well. All of these problems are hard to see, especially when mounted, but my tires aren't going to be in stock until a month from now, or MORE! So I am contemplating painting my axle and repainting my rims. Though, these problems are hard to find, so I may just beat them up and repaint the next tire change. G+_Taylor Graham
Oven looks nice. Did you just use angle iron and such? I'd be interested to know how long it tool you/what tools you used/how much it cost.
G+_610GARAGE
Thanks guys! D Funk Yup. Some pics here: https://plus.google.com/+610bobdotcom/posts/ambTViEctck Taylor Graham I'll be making a video on it, but I basically used sheet metal. I bent/welded 18 gauge into a box, then built a structure around the box out of 22 gauge to hold the insulation. Wayne Hobbins I'm not married, but don't tell my mom that I used her oven. ;) I am using Eastwood's powder coating gun. Although, given the results, I'm kinda looking elsewhere for a gun. It is way underpowered. 25 kv just isn't enough on a large rim. I use nitrile gloves. But I had to move the rims in and out of the oven while hot. So I used some welding gloves to handle the the rack attached to the rims. I think the heat caused them to deteriorate a little. I have some better welding gloves on order at a welding supply house, so it shouldn't be a problem on my next powdercoating job. http://www.eastwood.com/dual-voltage-hotcoat-powder-gun.html?reltype=
