G+_Rocky Paternostro
Syma X5-1 Power Loss Issue: I just got a Syma X5C-1 and the power shuts off after a second or two of flight until battery is ~1/2 drained. Tried new batteries with the same results. Any suggestions?
G+_Wayne Black
I'm not quite sure what's happening. You have a fully charged battery and you bind with the TX . Then you take off and fall out of the sky after two seconds? Typically, I can fly around for approximately 8 minutes with a 600mah battery. Near the end of the flight I'll notice that it takes more throttle to keep the quad flying. I'll bring it back toward me, land and within a few seconds at full throttle, the motors will just slow and then stop. This is typical.
G+_Rocky Paternostro
Yes, it seems the TX unbinds and power is shutoff. I rebind and the same thing happens. After a few minutes of this, all is OK.
G+_Wayne Black
That's not right for sure. It's odd that it finally works after a few tries. You probably can't send it back for replacement, if it were mine, I would start looking for any loose wires. The TX or RX antenna could be faulty. The one in the TX isn't the best. See latest KnowHow. Bryan does an upgrade on one. Maybe someone else with more experience will chime in. I did some searching for this problem and so far nothing. Edit: I did find one person having a similar problem and was told to look for poor solder on one of the FETs. Take a close look with a magnifying glass at the main board in the quad. The person did end up replacing the main board in the X5 and that took care of the problem.
