G+_Derek Holmes
I decided to use my isolated guest Network for my many IoT devices, but after starting the guest Network I noticed some connection issues. When I turned to WiFi Analyzer up look at the channel usage I found that my Asus AC56U places the guest on the same channel with no apparent way to change the channel. Does anyone here know of a way to resolve this?
G+_Chris Whitener
No. The router only has one radio.
G+_Derek Holmes
I hadn't considered that the limitation. Thanks for the insight. I guess I'll try to optimize my network some other ways
G+_Ben Reese
Depending on the router, it may just struggle with multiple SSIDs. I've had issues with more than 1 on my older Linksys running DD-WRT, but the last I bought seems to handle 3 SSIDs with little trouble.
G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
If an AP only has one radio in 2.4Ghz and you're opening a guest network In ADDITION to your trusted network, it will "timeshare" the radio between all the SSIDs that you're opening. I'd suggest reserving 5Ghz for your trusted network and 2.4 for your guest network. If you REALLY need 2.4 on your trusted, then the "timesharing" feature isn't a bad thing, but it does mean you'll lose some of the available bandwidth. G+_Golden Retriever
He beat me to it, was also going to suggest the frequency split for guest v trusted.
G+_Benjamin Webb
I Ihave three radios and frequency split on two of them. Then again I only use it when guests come over or I'm cleaning out a sketchy computer. I am not aware of any consumer devices with a dedicated guest radio on top of the 2.4 and 5.0 ghz.
