G+_Jason Hammond
I have a raspberry pi 2. I have retropi setup and have been playing quite few old Nintendo, super Nintendo, and Atari 2600 games I used to play when I was young. I love it and get a chance to show my 7 year old son how gaming was done in the day. However, I am wondering if there is an easy way to incorporate a ps1 emulator so I can play some old games I used to play( Resident evil 2 in particular...lol) Thanks in advance
G+_Silvino J. A. Presa
retropie includes a playstation emulator as well. Just put the games in the 'psx' folder , restart and you should see them.
G+_Ben Tyger
Jason Hammond?? Retropie has supported the best of breed PS1 emulator for a while now. I think your biggest issue my be the pi2 itself. You probably want to jump to a pi3. That's so you enough RAM to split between the GPU and the CPU. I remember people complaining that the Pi2's performance was a bit lagging with PS1 games.
G+_Ben Tyger
Also with an RPi3, PS2 games get possible too.
G+_Jason Hammond
Thank you for the responses. I was able to get resident evil 2 loaded no problem. Not sure how I over looked the psx folder. So far with the pi 2 I have had no issues with lag. I am still going to invest in a pi 3 (maybe a couple..lol). As my game library grows, I think I am going to try to make the raspberry pi a portable system (like gameboy or PSP) so I can take the great classics to go...lol. Any suggestions on a good raspberry pi screen?
G+_Lance Foxcoonbit2019
Sorry if it gets long. The Pi 2 was the 1st one i remember that could do PlayStation, N64, 3DO, CDI, and Saturn games. Pi 3 can't let do PS2, Gamecube, or X-BOX games because their emulation is not let to good even on PCs. My be by the Pi 4 it will be. Of course with the new RetroBlox system coming out and that we have reports that we will be abull to install Google Android on the Pi4 can see even more options coming soon. As good as the Pi is I find buying an ChromeBox at the loacl office depot then installing puppy arcade Liunx over Chrome OS works best for this.
