They are asking for a tablet at my niece school she already has an iPad but they want a new table...

looks pretty good.  I haven't heard of Hisense except for Google TV.  I will say they have nice apps that you can put on a tablet to lock anything up, including playstore, specific apps, or even the app to install apps.  Put it on my daughters tablet and have had zero problems in over a year.

I have had one for about a month now....... love it....... no complaints........ it is definitely a wonderful pick for anyone right now. With Android it is a bit of a "flavor of the month"  but right now and at only $150 it is a "buy"........ Sero 7 Pro

.... #hisense #sero7pro

grin...... no the battery does not last 10 hours....... heavy use maybe

to
....... but after the "Christmas Day" wow factor wears off it does easily last a full day and I can go a couple of days now with out charging it.......

The screen is average...... not stunning....... but very easy to read text (however I use a eink reader to read books)...... is at least on par with the Nexus 7 but I think it is brighter and does a better job in bright light or sun light.

It is after all a $150 tablet........ it well worth the money grin

One of the good/bad things about iOS is that it does one thing but it does that one thing very well. Meaning if you've got it set up as a personal device then that's it. It's a personal device. No going back and forth, at least not without countless hours spent uploading and downloading apps and media.

Great thing about Android OS; multiple logins. I'm sure Apple will get around to multiple logins but till then I think having an iPad as a personal device and a Nexus 7 as a educational/professional device makes a lot of sense.

Your niece is in grade school so I'd say your biggest worry is durability. I can tell you right now (I've owned both iPads and Nexus 7s) you get what you pay for when it comes to the device's longevity. These things (Nexus 7s) have been known to burn out after only a month or so. And when it comes to hardware damage the build quality does not inspire any confidence. Your going to want to invest in a quality built case that emphasizes impact protection/shock absorption. This will greatly improve the longevity of the device. I recommend a case like this from otterBox: http://www.otterbox.com/Google-Nexus-7-Defender-Series-case/asu2-nexus-7,default,pd.html

Don't let that deter you though lol. Asus' 1 year warranty will cover most fails. Other than that I'd say you can't go wrong with the Nexus 7.
