G+_Matthew Bowe
Motorcycle hack question: I'm trying to make a riding jacket with wireless turn signals on the back that match the turn signals of the bike. I've got the jacket complete with conductive thread, but I don't know how to interface it wirelessly with the bike.
G+_Eddie Foy
There are cheap rf relays from China that could work. Just tap into your 'clicker'
G+_Matthew Bowe
I'm not a biker by any means. I'm designing the schematic for a friend. What is a "clicker" and how would I tap into it?
G+_Eddie Foy
The directional switch on the bike. But rethinking this. You need to tun it off too. (do bikes have a mechanical auto off like cars?) I'd just wire into the bulb and the RF remote's switch (with a buffer obviously). DO get a momentary RF relay, otherwise it will just latch and stay on. G+_Gilbert Knarr
Some bikes have an auto shutoff but it isn't mechanical, possibly a small mercury switch but I'm not sure. What motorcycle does you friend ride? I've ridden sportbikes and currently ride a Harley.

G+_Gilbert Knarr
That bike should have the auto off. So if you tap the wires going to the turn signals for you signal you should be fine. You could use a two relays like Eddie Foy mentioned (one for each side), or make an Arduino/Rpi setup using the turn signal taps inputs to send a wireless signal (Bluetooth maybe) to the jacket. G+_Gilbert Knarr
If I remember correctly, there is a compartment behind the seat that you could put your setup in. I would recommend in a box of some sort. And if you put the receiver in the jacket in the lower part of the back you should get a good signal.
