G+_Alex Gomez
Hello Know how family, Does anyone know if there is an episode on making a cat litter vent system? I have seen several instructional sites and videos that make it but they all seem to lack the programming part of the set up. Basically its a fan that sits on top of an enclosed cat litter box and has sensors and timers to be able to detect and delay the fan from startling the cat. Thank you for all the great info and keep up to the good work.

G+_John Sullivan
We would need some more specifics. What is the sensor for? To detect when the cat enters / leaves the enclosed box? or when the cat is in the box? What is the timer for? Does the cat entering the box start a timer which keeps the fan off for a selected period, say two minutes? five minutes? Are you familiar with coding an Arduino? G+_Ben Reese
I'm guessing you need something like this? DIYmall 5 Pack HC-SR501 Pir Motion IR Sensor Body Module https://www.amazon.com/dp/B012ZZ4LPM If I remember he litter box is covered, maybe this could be mounted in one of the corners. If not covered, it would probably need to be mounted/adjusted so it's not falsely triggered. After that, it's a question of how comfortable you are with coding. A button-press sample code gets you halfway there. Just need a wait line or a time counter to delay your fan and another to turn it back off. The code could be as simple or complicated as you'd like it to be. Maybe even use this with a Raspberry Pi Zero-W and log everything to a MySQL DB... Or not... G+_Spudz Productions
I would suggest using a large quiet fan and put it at the window to keep the cat from freaking out. It doesn't have to draw to much air but just enough to keep it flowing through the duct. Also get one of those flaps for the outside like dryers have to prevent outside wind from forcing air back into the system. This way it should be quiet enough you can leave it running all the time. Good Luck
