G+_Eddie Foy
Hey guys, I'm looking for a syncing solution (mac/linux/win) Here's what I want. Server and laptop. If the file exists on the laptop & server sync. If the file exits only on server skip (don't copy to laptop but keep on server) If the file only exists on laptop sync. I like BT Sync, but doesn't quite fit the bill.
G+_David Ellis (TheRemora)
you can edit the .SyncIgnore file in your shared BT Sync directory to get the effect you want but it has to be done manualy. You add the file/folder name as a line in the file.
G+_Eddie Foy
Oooooh! Cool, will look into it. Thanks!! Manually editing isn't much a prob. (getting used to Linux's "30 years behind the times of keeping computers difficult for the masses" :P )
G+_Timothy Hamlett
Unfortunately there is not a mass way to do this....
G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
I think you can do with with Goodsync. --- It's been a while since I've played with it.
G+_Eddie Foy
Ok I tried the goodsync (well D/L'd the trial and peeked. Doesn't seem to do it exactly. The retention of files has a timeout. And I think if I put to 0, it will just delete straight away. Guess I'll just have to roll my own. Time to brush up on rsync. (the basis of most of these programs anyways)
