G+_Eddie Foy
Quads: I grabbed a Syma on your rec. Charged up and alive. Quick Q, does it retain the trim values or do I need to trim it each time?? (Oh I don't think the cam is that bad. A bit over saturated, but might be better it is in bright sunlight where it would usually fly.) I might try to add a second bat for longer flight (ditching the cam for weight) I have a hubsan, AR 2.0 and DJI Phantom 2 vision. I couldn't never get the hubsan to be stable. The AR? Well tilting a tablet to control it is near impossible (for this old geezer) and the DJI? Pretty damn awesome, just need more practice, hence the Syma. G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
The trim values are retained on the controller every time you fly... However, depending on how you store your quad, you MAY have to re-trim it every time if you want ABSOLUTE stability. The Syma/Swann is pretty darn stable for the money. You will get the "Jello" effect on the camera, but you can get rid of that by balancing the props (as much as possible) and using zip ties to suspend the camera from the body instead of directly attaching. I've done THREE batteries... and while it definitely gets more flight time, (20 minutes vs. 15 minutes for a single battery -- remember that adding another battery adds A LOT of relative weight. That means the motors need to turn faster just to keep it in the air) I found the loss of flight performance to be unacceptable. Have fun! -- Practice... crash a lot. -- When you feel confident, take off the prop guards and the landing gear. You'll love how much snappier it becomes. :)
G+_Eddie Foy
Cool thanks. Yes, for the money, its very useable/great value. Not as stable as the DJI, but then it wasn't $1200. Very happy with it. Already picked it out of a tree or two. :P Now I'm waiting on my batteries/gang charger from China :( Even used the Hubsan batteries in it. Gonna fly everything tomorrow. G+_Philip Oberg
Unfortunately the trainers that were suggested don't ship to Canada.... I'm starting to look for something in that range...
