G+_Eddie Foy
Active Directory Q: I had set up a VM Win Server with AD. And XP client (also a VM) The XP client is not logged into the server/AD, but the screensaver dolled out by the group policy is still kicking in. I also have no screen saver settings anymore on the XP client. Reg key?
G+_Larry Havenstein
Look at Local group policy for the machine. If you are not logged into the AD, AD group policy shouldn't be in effect. I am assuming your account on the XP machine is a local one not an AD one. If it is an AD account even if there isn't network connectivity you are technically logging into AD as all the AD info is cached local until it can update for a period of time. Only local accounts don't log into AD in some form.
G+_Eddie Foy
Thanks Hmmm. Not sure if it is a local or AD. I'm thinking local, since it existed as local years before the server. Its not a huge issue,. Its a VM. Just one of those things that bugs me.
