G+_Eddie Foy
Does the Amazon Echo work OK on a guest network? I have one coming, but it doesn't support WPA2-Enterprise nor has RJ-45 port.
G+_Carl Elton
I would think so. I got mine last night and it just needs a internet connection so it can search the web. I think later on it might be able to play music from a shared file on your network and then you will have problems being on the guest side of your network. G+_Joshua Hamlett
What kind of network are we talking about? The Echo is designed for home use.
G+_Eddie Foy
It is a home network. Yeah the loss of my music might be an issue.
G+_Joshua Hamlett
And you're using enterprise level encryption why?

G+_Larry Havenstein
I wouldn't see why it would have problems on a guest network. I would probably lock the mac to the dhcp IP and only let it have ports needed just to be safe.
G+_Eddie Foy
MAC address filtering can be bypassed by a script kiddie. Oh crap! I don't think using a guest network will work here The AP is not the router. (time to test things out. Love pen-testing my own stuff)
G+_Larry Havenstein
Make two vlans and then put the Echo on one that only has routes to the internet. If your router can do dd-wrt you should be able to do that.
G+_Eddie Foy
My router and switches do VLANs, but the AP doesn't. Though the AP is 'supposedly' factory dd-wrt from Asus. Might be time to get a Ubiquity PoE AP. Haven't done VLANs. Can I just put a VLAN on the switch port that's connected to the AP? How does DHCP work on a VLAN? My DHCP server is neither the router nor the AP. Time to play!
