G+_Eddie Foy
Thought my AC was acting up. Dragged a tank. leak detector, and gauges out to top it off. Nope superheat was dead one (well, off 1^F) Just dang hot. Pondering putting a sprinkler on the roof for some evap cooling. Wish I had a big rain barrel. I'd solar power the pump. G+_Ben Reese
I was once told your doing good to have a 20° drop between inside and outside using AC. On a 90°(F) day that's not too bad, but 100+ and you may be tougher to keep the temp down. (I also think that AC technician was also trying to give himself room for error.) G+_David Wiggins
Most a/c systems operate on something of a differential. The can typically only lower by a percentage. That's why cars frequently only cool a little. On another note, one year my a/c died in a heat wave, but the culprit was only a bug that had crawled between the contacts of an internal switch. It got fried and prevented the circuit from completing. . . An the a/c guy didn't charge me!
G+_Eddie Foy
Sounds like Ada Lovelace. See found the very first software 'bug', and it was a moth in the works. Hence the term bug/debug we use now. Cars usually cool better. I was driving down the LIE one killer hot day and saw a rear window go poof! Kid in the backseat was saying/pleading it wasn't him.
