G+_Randy Strye
The only issue on newer Lenovos is the track pad. They take a lot of getting used to and in the meantime, you'll want to throw it out the window. Once you do, though, it's not that bad. ? Otherwise, they're some of the best on the market. G+_Joel G. J
And is the processor enough for a computer science degree? Looking into an app development career
G+_Randy Strye
a Haswell i5 will be plenty powerful enough for software development. Paired with 8GB RAM and an SSD, I think you'll be very happy.
G+_Douglas Barnum
Get a Mac. Then both android and iOS development can be done. If windows is needed it can be run in a VM. Best choice for comp sci / developer nowadays.
G+_Joel G. J
Douglas Barnum Maybe i'll become one of those "Android first" developers Ron Richards always talks about. What is Gina Trapani 's opinion on this?
G+_Douglas Barnum
Mac OS X is unix based which is also a good thing for a comp sci major.
G+_Randy Strye
Joel J Douglas Barnum When I went to college, I'm not sure if a Mac would have worked out. My Computer Science degree included a lot of Visual Basic and other very Windows-oriented classes. Even the networking and other hardware/infrastructure classes really depended on Windows and other Microsoft solutions. When I needed/wanted unix, I made a Linux virtual machine.
