G+_Eddie Foy
Does ASLR lead to RAM fragmentation and system slow downs? After being running for a few days I tend to need to close most programs and restart them to get the system snappy again. FireFox is probably the worst culprit of 'dogging out'
G+_Raymond Larabee Jr.
Yes and no. Most OSs (including Mac and Linux) do slow down over time. A bigger question for you is are you running an SSD or a standard HDD? That also makes a difference?
G+_610GARAGE
I think the biggest culprit to this effect is memory abandonment. Not only do programs slowly start to need more ram, but the cpu has to take more time to find needed data due to an increase in fragmentation. I don't turn off computers, and they definitely slow down. WIndows 7 isn't as bad as previous versions of windows, but restarts are still necessary. I also find that chrome is a big culprit in this. I don't know why, I only have like a 100 tabs open. :)
G+_Eddie Foy
Thanks guys. Pretty much what I expected. I had a SSD die and switched back to a spinner. Both had this issue. This macbook has been up for 24 days. Doing a force quit on FF and reopening really helps FF when it bogs down. (I do a force quit so it will open all the windows and tab on restart)
