G+_Eddie Foy
I tried a vinyl place mat from the dollar store as a mouse pad. Works well. But the top layer started to peel after a few months. So I peeled it off, cleaned it all up with some rubbing alcohol. Its a nice white smooth surface that now doubles perfectly as a white board. I typically need to jot down quick notes, and this is a near ideal solution.
G+_E. Matt Armstrong
If you could just get it to work with evernote! I tried several grocery list apps, just no one in the family would put anything in it, so I had an old white board and hung it in the kitchen. Now if someone remembers to write something down when we run out and if someone remembers to take a picture of the board. I will have a good grocery list when I get to the store, most of the time. Low tech solutions sometimes beats the best new gadgets.
G+_Eddie Foy
Edward Armstrong Ponder the Amazon Echo. Its shopping app/feature is rather nice. Just tell it to add to the shopping list and it pops up in the mobile app. And its not for amazon shopping only.
G+_E. Matt Armstrong
If you are listening to a twit podcast on the echo. Will Alexa wake up when someone says "her" name? I'm going to wait on a while on echo to see how that technology evolves. Maybe I will just install a RFID reader on the fridge and pantry to do real time inventory. G+_Eddie Foy
Not sure about the wakening via a pod cast. The RFID and RT inventory. I've pondered that via bar-coding (since all products have bar-codes, RFID is a different story) but even living alone, it needs the commitment do actually do it. And needs to be done on the in and out sides. Turns out to be too much work. And if you have a house full of people, I'd think it would go south fast.
