Fnally got my Itus Shield.

This is NOT by ANY stretch of the term a plug and play device!

Tried router mode: no joy

Tried gateway: no joy

Living in console now, since zero Ethernet access.

In gateway mode now.  Only interface that has an IP,  is br-lan with an ip of 0.0.0.111,  huh?

Maybe it doesn't like the 30 delay Cisco uses to test for loopback?

I ended up taking mine out of the network.

After solving some initial problems during installation (https://plus.google.com/106980464670318706539/posts/JFbrBuvoH6v) it was working ok. I did have problems getting email through, or going to some websites the webfilter didn't like, or a few other things, but I would just log in, disable whichever feature was causing the issue (web filter, virus scanner,. IPS, etc), and then re-enable it when done. The best solution would be to configure it so I didn't have to touch it at all, but I was busy, so it was an expedient solution.

However, a few weeks ago, I found I could not get connection to any websites (but could still connect to my routers, etc, internally). I logged into Shield (the outermost point in my network), and saw that the CPU was stuck at 100% sustained. I issued a soft reboot command, and it would quickly bog down again. A hard reboot didn't work either.

It was so bogged down it probably couldn't process packets. Even if it could, none of my settings were persisting, so it wouldn't have let me go to the websites I wanted anyways.

That was the last straw, and back in the box it went.

I wouldn't exactly call it a waste of money, because I did learn a lot about networks because of it, but a bit disappointing to say the least. I did get a kickstarter update about bug fixes and firmware updates, so perhaps I'll  be brave enough to try again in the future.
