I'm pretty sure its "pilot" registration since you get one "sign" for all your crafts. Considering we have horrible data laws(too much publically available like tax info,DMV info, home puchaces etc) I'm just going to stay under the minimum weight for registration or not register at all. The faa isn't very smart; say you don't like Jon Smith or Jane doe doesn't like you. Go to the faa drone site, look up the number put it on a drone and go fly or crash it where it doesn't belong. Now someone is going to have a really bad time.

Mick Carson? I argued the same thing for the longest time, but as Wayne Hobbins? said, the dictionary has been updated to match the publics opinion.

Miriam Websters now says "an unmanned aircraft or ship guided by remote control or onboard computers", whereas before it referred only to computer piloted aircraft. Which, to be fair, could include things like the DJI that can be pre-programmed for a route.

So has anyone been foolish enough to register?  Even if I had something that would fly instead of just a pile of broken model airplane parts I don't think I'd register it. I wouldn't want everyone coming to my house every time some kid was causing problems because I was the only one in the area who registered.  Most of them are toys and since this isn't a dictatorship the FAA doesn't have the authority to make all the kids register their toys anyway.

I see the prob as knowing and showing PPI for NO good reason.

Making your address public has zero value.  For LEO?  The FAA is LEO.

But then if its public, I guess it won't be a 'breech' .  Offer up all for public view and then there is nothing to be 'hacked'  (sounds like OPM's 'security)

Just a point of clarification on the AMA's current efforts: Their press release points out that there are currently open cases on whether any new rules against model UAS are legal, including registration. The outcome may nullify the registration regulation.

Separately, the organization is pursuing a process for their members to use.

Wayne Hobbins  $5 reg fee isn't worth fighting over.  They aren't banning UAVs, not even really restricting them (55lbs is a BIG UAV)  I don't see them losing any biz over a $5 reg fee on a $1-8K  UAV.

outside of the money grab, I'm only concerned with the public posting of PPI.
