G+_Eddie Foy
I think the USA is headed towards an IMPORT restriction on encryption now. (pondering the Fienstien/Burr bill) My how things change
G+_Travis Hershberger
Only politicians could ever think that could even work. How many other people remember the export restrictions the US used to have on encryption?
G+_Eddie Foy
Actually its still kinda in play. Intel just a couple years ago was in hot water. So not only is encryption a free speech issue, and 4th amendment rights, its a 2d amendment issue too, since its classified as 'munitions' :P But how are they going to actually enforce it? G+_Travis Hershberger
I wonder if someone still makes those t-shirts with the code for strong encryption on em? Yeah, people used to defy the export rules just by wearing a t-shirt :)
G+_Eddie Foy
Have a 2600 shirt from the Snowden days about using strong crypto.
G+_Larry Havenstein
According to the press the Fienstien/Burr bill is dead. Evidently the President refuses to sign it this year if it got through the congress as its too much a hot potato after what the FBI tried to pull off with Apple. G+_Larry Havenstein
This round is good enough for me. We just have to keep whackamoling these stupid ideas.
