G+_Eddie Foy
Is the LG Nexus 5 a pure google/android phone like the Google Nexus 5 with all the update perks?
G+_Ben Yanke
Aren't they the same thing?
G+_Eddie Foy
yes, for the most part; LG sold them outside of the Google playstore to carriers. There are some hardware differences too. I like my Samsung S3, but really want pure android. It works real nice on my Nexus 7 tablet. (I don't live on my phone, so no need for the latest greatest)

G+_Rud Dog
Kinda new to the updates on google phones will the Nexus 6P get the update autmatically or do need to download and install?
G+_Eddie Foy
Not sure about the 6P, but my nexus 7 tab prompts me. but I may have set it up that way. I don't upgrade for at least a week, to let the bugs settle.
G+_Steve Martin
Rud Dog You don't have to look for an update. When updates come out you get a notification as Wayne Hobbins states. The 6P gets updates on a monthly basis as part of Google's new security release protocol. Not all manufacturer's do that, although Samsung has gotten very good about it. Though they haven't yet released Android 6 on all of their promised devices. This is where a Nexus device gets a better deal. Personally even on a carrier (Sprint) I found that my Nexus 5 was updates very frequently. Ad for Eddie Foy's original question, I'm still unclear on what he is asking. LG makes the Nexus 5. It's a pure android phone. I don't know anything about an LG Nexus 5 vs a Nexus 5. Unless it is just the way some carriers are listing the phone. YMMV
G+_Rud Dog
As crazy as it sounds the biggest point for buying the Nexus 6P was size and updates.
G+_Rud Dog
Wayne Hobbins Agree on all points except love the size of the phone great for watching videos away from home. The location of the fingerprint reader was a great idea and move on their part. Also love the updates from what I have heard it is like being perpetually in the front of the line. G+_Steve Martin
Love my 6P as well, I'm a big guy (~2m) and the thing fits perfectly in my hand. With the fingerprint reader on the back it is a great one hand phone for me. The Nexus 5X added the Fingerprint reader, so that would be a plus for anyone wanting a smaller device that is still a Nexus.
G+_Larry Havenstein
The Nexus devices will download and wait till allowed from my experiance. At least that is what happens on mine.
