Microsoft announces Surface Book laptop with 13 5-inch display starting at $1,499

I was going to buy iPad pro but I'm waiting to see if this can do the same pen input plus be a high end PC. The phones look good but no finger print reader or mobile payment solution is to much plus not having all he apps to be my main phone.

Hololens looks incredible and the $3000 developer price to me means consumer version will be $1500+. Still I will buy it. INCREDIBLE

Just a general comment on the MS event. I thought it was excellent overall. It was pitched just right, with references to the outside world and other companies you don't usually see e.g. the Fridge/Toaster model, or acknowladging people made fun of the term 'lappability'.

Most importantly, though, the devices looked really good. High end products in a number of categories. There was a narrative to it, and overall a strong showing all round.

Surprised that TwiT (the show) only managed to discuss this whole event for half and hour maximum, an hour into the show as I would have liked to know, after time to digest the announcement, their considered thoughts.

As for the products themselves:The Band 2 looks very interesting; The Phones looked like great flagship phones – and a lot better than in the leaked renders, I'm not sure I have any need for Continuum but it would be interesting to have the dock built into a monitor; The Surface was a solid evolutionary product and I would like a device that is touch/pen/keyboard enabled, but fear the Surface Book is above my budget.

I think that Twit was under the constraints of their live show schedule. It has happened with other live events as well, sometimes they have even less time to discuss, sadly.

I second your thoughts on the Surface and Surface pro. They so need a economy model of the Surface book, but I know that would be a inferior product from so many corners being cut.

Josh Frye I understand that there are different things to talk about, and maybe it is a case of TWiT not discussing what I want to listen to, but it feel as if the MS presentation was hardly mentioned at all. I would say that one of the great things about TWiT is that they do discuss things in depth, and if the show is meandering and is two and a half hours long then that's what you get.

It doesn't matter, there are plenty of places to get more information, let's see how good these machines are when released.
