G+_Kevin J McMahon Jr
Will there be any episode covering all the ins and outs of 3D printers anytime soon? I would like to get one, but I just don't know what to look for. There's no makerspace within like 50 miles of me and I would send a final version out for a high quality print, but I want to at least be able to prototype in home. As a part time graphic designer and photographer I know what to look for in all different types of printers and plotters and what my preferences are in terms of features and brands, but when it comes to 3D printers I'm a bit lost to be honest. I've read up on some and looked at some buying guides, but still felt more like I got a basic run down after reading them and not the knowledge to make an informed buying decision. To hear and watch a trusted source go over the different types of printers and the advantages and disadvantages of them would be really helpful as well as what features and specifications to look for. In additions, info on all the different types of filament that can be used and the advantages and disadvantages of them would be great. I feel like a lot of the projects involve a 3D printed part and it's great that you're offering the models for the viewers to download, but I feel like with a 3D printer being an integral part of the builds there should be more talk about the actual printers, newer models and advances. The only mentions of them in the last few months have been brief interviews with some manufactures at shows. I can't recall any episodes where you had a 3D printer out on the table and went over the mechanics of the printer and all the different specs of them and how to make an informed decision on your own purchase. I love the extra bits of info you have given in various shows, such as using glue on the plate, but what should I be looking for in a plate to begin with? I can't recall a show or segment dedicated as a 3D printer primer or a buying guide of some sort. Thanks!

G+_Black Merc
Cheapest to expensive... worst to best... but pointing out the units that cross those two lines in a value to cost ratio. In other words... are units worth-it at that price? Not all us know-hole-ers have cash to burn.
