G+_Kyle Turpin
I watch a fair amount of YouTube and the ads have gotten overbearing lately. Mostly it's an issue of limited inventory for me, they have 3 sponsors who want my demographic so they ram those 3 ads down my throat in rotation as a pre-roll before every single video. G+_Kyle Turpin
I'm on the fence. I hate to sign up for another subscription service but if it means the same or better support for the content and less irritation for me, that's a pretty compelling argument. I'm one who intentionally sits through the ads for channels I enjoy. I'm more likely to skip if it's an unproven source or giant commercial entity. ABC Television Network? doesn't need my one additional view but it's a proportionally bigger boost to Steve Ramsey? or Rosanna Pansino?.
G+_Alexander Mielchen (MiL
The ad-removal alone is not worth it, but the bundle with Google music all access is a killer deal, plus the offline content which is a bonus. The entire bundle, all access, YT music, ad-free YT, exclusive content and little perks like offline video makes it a great deal. And now think about the family account, all that 6 times for 15$. I don't even have to think about this. Take my money Google!?
G+_Richard Tan
I don't know how content creators are going to earn money. I feel that a type of tip jar like patreon is probably a better way of doing it, plus I read it is like 55% goes to the content creators. Should be at least 70%. G+_L I
I hope they bring additional content and not just stuff like Pewdiepie.
G+_Jeff Springer
Richard Tan For the most part, I predict content creators won't be affected that much by this. Not that many people will sign up for this or use it to have a noticeable impact for most. But, 55% is the same percentage paid to us creators for ad revenue, so that is the same regardless. The real question is how the revenue will be split among various channels watched by an individual Red subscriber, and whether preference in that breakdown is given to larger channels. That is what I want to know.
G+_Jeff Springer
Lionel D There is a list of new shows in the Youtube Blog post I linked in the article, nothing that particularly appeals to me though.
G+_Richard Tan
Jeff Springer?? it will be interesting to see, but don't you think 55% is quite low? I can bet Facebook and Twitter will soon offer much better and compelling offerings, with an added benefit of social reach. Also especially with music where one can leave it running over and over. Do you get paid on how many views you get or how many unique? Also if one person watches 1000s of videos a month and one person watches 10 videos then will more money go to the content creators by the person who just watched 10 videos? ? G+_Zachary Dunn
I watch YouTube exclusively via casting, so background playback and video downloads are useless to me. That makes this $10/month to remove ads. There's no features to make this service useful for TV viewing. Definitely not worth it.
G+_Jeff Springer
Zachary Dunn That's partially true, but you also get Google Play Music All Access included, that is worth it to a lot of people who already want a streaming service. If you already have a preferred streaming service it won't change your mind, but it makes the value proposition a bit better.
