G+_Simon Meelich
Hi KITAs and KITA in Chief, Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ Padre presented a few nice small projectors on KnowHow. Along the size of those projectors, I was wondering if anyone has experience with portable speakers. Here's my challenge: I have to do a couple of presentations in conference rooms which apparently do not have speakers that I can plug my notebook into. I haven't been to those locations yet, so I'd like to come prepared. Not sure how big they are, but for the sake of argument, I am going to go with room capacities of up to 50 people. I was wondering if anyone knows about speakers (maybe even bluetooth to keep the cable clutter small) that would have some decent quality and are loud enough to get some presentation audio (e.g. small video clips with sound) across.... and since I'll be travelling with them in my backpack, they shouldn't be too big either. thanks for any tips. G+_Travis Hershberger
With speakers, you just can't get away from the physical limitations of size to sound output. A small portable speaker is only going to cover a room if up to 10 people at most. If you want something that will work for a room that fits 50 people, then you'd want a backpack size portable PA system.
G+_Simon Meelich
Travis Hershberger yes, I figuered that this would be the case, but I was hoping that there was some solution to my conundrum. I guess worst case I have to ship it, but it like the idea of a backpack size PA system. do you have any suggestions?
G+_Ben Reese
KH has shown off a few sets of Bluetooth speakers that can be paired to double the volume output. There are many BT speakers that may be loud enough stand alone. If you're looking for something more "professional", Fender makes a very nice portable PA system. I've used this at outdoor weddings. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B011LOEKTK/ amazon.com - Amazon.com: Fender Passport Conference Portable PA System Bundle with Compact Speaker Stands, XLR Cable, Instrument Cable, and Austin Bazaar Polishing Cloth: Musical Instruments
G+_Travis Hershberger
I've had good luck with Beheinger sound equipment. Since it sounds like you're traveling, a single speaker unit it's probably easier to deal with. http://www.guitarcenter.com/Behringer/EUROPORT-MPA100BT-Portable-Bluetooth-Speaker-with-Wireless-Microphone.gc guitarcenter.com - Behringer EUROPORT MPA100BT Portable Bluetooth Speaker with Wireless Microphone
G+_Simon Meelich
Ben Reese Thanks, looks like a solid product. I am still hoping that the conference rooms where they don't have sound equipment avialbale are small enough that I can get by with some BT speakers. Yes, I know that the sound quality won't be the best, but unfortunatley, budget is tight, so I have to be "creative".
G+_Simon Meelich
Travis Hershberger Thanks Travis, indeed I will be travelling (multiple plane rides+car) so I'd have to ship it, but one speaker is still easier to ship than two. Thanks for the advice, I'll look into it.
