G+_Aaron Bishop
Wanted to share with you guys a personal cooling device I made about 10 years ago (no pics, this was 2004). It was a hat with a hole in the bill and an attached small CPU fan. It was powered by an old RC car's 12v NiCad battery pack duck taped to the back and had a toggle button built into the top (where they normally have that button looking thing to keep the seems together) for on/off. It was ok when worn with the bill in the front although it dried your eyes out. When worn backwards it was quite nice since it cooled the back of your neck. I'd probably not do the same power button which seemed like a cool idea but became uncomfortable on the top of your head. Simple build, you probably have all of the parts. G+_Quadflyingmedic
Seen things like this with a small fan and a solar panel. No battereis needed
G+_Aaron Bishop
I was working in an empty, unlit, un-air conditioned floor at the time (plus I didn't have any solar panels). I think of this as an alternative to the non-swamp cooler from KH episode 157. More efficient, no cost if you have all the parts, and lasts longer. Solar panels would be a good alternative to a heavy battery though, but NiCad batter packs have plenty of better alternatives these days.
G+_Quadflyingmedic
Aaron Bishop good point. Have seen people outside with them but for that it would be really good. Could run a longer battery wire and put the battery on your belt to reduce the weight on your head
