G+_Aaron Bishop
I'm looking for a recommendation on a new keyboard. I have a Thermaltake Poseiden KB-POI with Cherry MX Brown keys, but over the last month or so some of the keys have been double or triple pressing when I press it. I started using the keyboard maybe 3 years ago. It is very annoying since I use this for programming, though I imagine a gamer wouldn't care so much. I could probably replace the affected switches, but I'd have to desolder and I really don't want to do that more than once. Requirements: * Reliable Longevity * Price point of < ~$60 if it will probably last 3-5 years, up to $100 if 5+ * Full size keyboard. Navigation keys + number pad are a must. * Wired or Logitech Unifying Receiver (already in ecosystem) * Good typing feel. Mechanical is nice, but I'm game for anything. * Linux compatible. I don't mind losing some features by not using MF software. Bonuses: * Keys that can be rearranged for Dvorak/Workman-P layout * USB passthrough Detractors: * Stupid fonts on the keyboard I've looked at (and would appreciate input about): http://a.co/2gdyxTH http://a.co/d1JgDEK http://a.co/1PoK5Vu http://a.co/3rdAFGr http://a.co/4Y6kw8m http://a.co/3V9m1vo http://a.co/2gdyxTH
G+_Travis Hershberger
I love my Aukey KM-G6. Mechanical switches and backlighting for less than $50. Hard to beat.
G+_Paul Hutchinson
Love my Unicomp Model M's, as functional and reliable as the original IBM Model M. http://www.pckeyboard.com/page/product/UB40P4A https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Model_M_keyboard
G+_Rob D.
I have had a Das Keyboard and loved it it's debest elegant and very well built . Also have been quite happy with the Coolermaster Quick Fire Ultimate bought about 4 yrs ago still going stong. Both use cherry brown switches and are not loud and annoying while maintaining the tactile feedback needed. I Also have a cheap Aukey (from Amazon, genaric blue switches I believe. It works okay, tactile feed back is really good but clearly not well built and is loud (clicky) as heck, but for the price it gets the job done. G+_Aaron Bishop
Travis Hershberger I see the AUKEYs on amazon are all clicky blue (louder than I'd like), but I do see other oetemu brown keyboards for about the same price.
G+_Aaron Bishop
I ended up finding a cheap removable brown switch mech for $50. Also comes in blue switches. Hopefully if a key starts chattering I can just replace it. amazon.com - Amazon.com: E-Element Z-88 RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard, Brown Switch - Tactile & Quiet, Programmable RGB Backlit, Waterproof, 104 Keys Anti-Ghosting for Mac PC, Black: Computers & Accessories
G+_Matt Koglin
I purchased that exact keyboard as a replacement for my Logitech k740. There's no comparison and I returned it immediately. That said, I'm on my 3rd k740 in 5 years because of the weak attachment of the keys to the rubber spring. But, it's my 3rd for a reason. It's got great action and feels super natural. G+_Aaron Bishop
Matt Koglin I'm the same way with Logitech mice. I love those infinite scroll wheels, but they should really step up the qc for the left and right click buttons
G+_Matt Koglin
That's funny, because I have an Amazon Basics mouse and love it :)
G+_Paul Hutchinson
My two Unicomp keyboards both work as perfectly as the day I bought them. The older one is now 9 years old and has had very heavy usage (a lot of lines of code :-) and the new one is 2 years old.
