G+_Christopher Young
Should I be worried that I don't have the update?
G+_M. L. Hunt
Christopher Young It'll show up eventually. I ran 'check for updates' a few times this evening and it finally showed up about an hour ago. Taking a LOOONG time to install though.
G+_Rodney Moore
Thanks, for remind me why i bought Chromebooks for my family and parents. I know, be quiet Rod.
G+_Joe Phelps
Windows 10 upgrade says this over and over and fails every time wasting bandwidth.
G+_Randy Hudson
I've tried this on two machines. The first went flawlessly. On my Tablet however the upgrade has hung at the 40% mark, twice. After the second failure the update is no longer being offered.
G+_Bruno Haineault
Updated 5 machines and each one took between 45 minutes to around one hour. No BSOD-type errors, lock-ups, etc., just let them run their course and be patient ;-)
G+_Bruno Haineault
Randy Hudson A friend had the same issue and he told me that the update will reappear in a day or so.
G+_Randy Hudson
Bruno Haineault rather than waiting I downloaded the update from Microsoft and ran it manually. Let it run overnight. Same results. Was stuck at 40% in the morning.?
G+_Joe Loschiavo
Randy Hudson I've got one machine stuck on 75% I didn't notice before but now there's a checkbox to defer updates. The Help page about it is just so vague, "some updates will be delayed for months"
G+_Randy Hudson
Joe Loschiavo If you check that, the update won't even be offered. Has nothing to do with a hung install.?
G+_Joe Phelps
The Windows 10 upgrade doesn't work on either of my computers. It's not worth trying a clean install. Windows 7 is fine.
G+_Joe Loschiavo
I use a VPN for my internet connection most of the time, gonna turn that off and see if the download completes.
G+_Christopher Young
If you upgraded to Windows 10 less than 30 days ago it will not do the upgrade. I got around this by going through the Windows 10 entire upgrade again. Worked great. I have an SSD so it only took 5 minutes.
G+_Joe Loschiavo
Christopher Young Interesting. This machine has been running 10 a couple of months but is not on the Fast Track cycle. I wonder if Microsoft will eventually go back to the download site to download updates if you are having problems doing it automatically.
G+_Randy Hudson
Joe Loschiavo you can already do the upgrade manually if you are having trouble with Windows Updates. Go here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 and click the "Upgrade Now" button.?
G+_Joe Loschiavo
Randy Hudson Thanks for the link, but I think I'll play around with it some more before using a full Upgrade install.
G+_Randy Hudson
Yes Joe Loschiavo I played around with 10 as a VM for many months before I took the plunge and installed it to hardware.
G+_Joe Loschiavo
Randy Hudson? Yep I run it on another machine (Mac Pro) using VMware and do anything I want to that one.
G+_Joe Loschiavo
Randy Hudson Overnite the update went ahead and installed. I wonder if it went through because I had gone to the link page and downloaded the ISO upgrade but didn't run the install at the time. What's annoying is there are a couple of Microsoft null HP printer updates which I don't need that keep coming up every time I check for updates. Without the ability to select or unselect updates like we used to have it looks like I'll have to uninstall and reinstall the printer.
G+_Randy Hudson
No idea Joe Loschiavo. The way updates have been implemented in 10 it is something of a mystery what's really going on.
