On other sharing tools, when a subject is updated it moves back to the top as a re-post(?)

On other sharing tools, when a subject is updated it moves back to the top as a re-post(?). But not in Goolge+. It seems I have to return to the original post if I want to see if there are any updates. Is there a setting or tool to review updates?

I think G+ tries to move popular posts to the top, but I'm not sure how well that works. I've seen a few comments added just so the user will get a notification when someone else comments.

Yea. This is what confuses me. Your post to my post showed up. But any other post in Know How I have to manually follow. Just seems ... Antiquated.
