G+_Rick D
Argh. I never use iTunes on my Mac, but several times a day I notice it's open and in my dock. Presumably there is something I am doing/opening that triggers this; is there a setting to make it stop? ETA that I'm running Mavericks.
G+_Benjamin Rumble
I have the same issue on Mountain Lion.
G+_Christopher Mylant
iTunes likes you, don't fight it. Accept it and he will treat you well.
G+_Jo Welde
Christopher Mylant it's stalking me, and must be stopped. :)
G+_Dave Trautman
I can only think you might be clicking on music files or video files and the default player was iTunes. If you plug in any iDevice it is set by default to launch iTunes – whether you use it or not to manage the device. This can be turned off in iTunes when the device is attached. This way the device will not launch iTunes in future. The iTunes preferences frame includes a lot of set up information which may give you a clue about what might be launching it. Unlike you have iTunes in my dock all the time because I use it a lot, but it doesn't launch until I ask for it. If none of this matches your experience then I suggest you do a PRAM reset one day to see if you can erase some inexplicable background process which has been running. G+_Jo Welde
Dave Trautman thanks. I have never plugged my iPad into my Mac, so it's not that. Nor do I have many pic/video files on my Mac, and I certainly don't click on the ones I have very often. I've looked at the settings in iTune but nothing leaps out at me as the culprit...I guess I was hoping an expert out here in the ether would say 'Aha!' and point me at the right one. :)
