G+_Donald Burr
Later this month, my girlfriend will be leaving for a trip to Ireland, and she would like to be able to use her phone while abroad for light data (checking email, using Maps, maybe some light web browsing, definitely NOT anything heavy like watching movies or downloading files) She has a Verizon iPhone 6 which uses a Nano SIM and which (I believe) is an unlocked device. What are her options? I remember Padre mentioning some sort of international SIM that he really likes, unfortunately I can't for the life of me remember what its name is, nor can I find the episode where he mentions it. G+_Rickbearcat
Why not just get a prepaid SIM card for her phone in the country of origin when she arrives? Pop into a cell phone shop locally and buy one. I can't imagine it would be more expensive than trying to track down a SIM card here in the States before she leaves. The only downside I can think of is that it might take 24 hours for the overseas SIM card to activate so she can start using it.

G+_Robert Maluka
What I do is I just use WIFI it is free. make sure you turn off your roaming data. You will not get full coverage like you have at home. It also will not be the best. It will run slower then you used to. Your hotel should have WIFI. So before she goes to bed for the night she can give you a call. You can find out what kind of WIFI speed is in the hotel before even leaving. You can book a hotel by how fast the WIFI is.https://digiwonk.gadgethacks.com/how-to/check-wi-fi-reliability-speed-hotels-before-booking-room-0156590/. digiwonk.gadgethacks.com - How To: Check Wi-Fi Reliability & Speed at Hotels Before Booking a Room
G+_Golden Retriever
Google Fi phones work in Ireland, she could buy a cheep track phone like phone over there and FW her number to that phone, she could also use an IP phone app and stay on wi-fi. Jonny Jet may have better info.
