G+_Jacques Deere
I was hoping that the Know How community could help with a Wi-Fi mesh networking query. I am looking for a mesh-networking kit and had my eyes set on eero (after the rave reviews by all at TWiT). However, I am based in Europe and eero are US and Canada suppliers only. What would be the next best option for Europe? Netgear Oribi came to mind but it is not the cheapest option. Any suggestions would be most welcome! G+_Ben Reese
For what it's worth, Eero is a sponsor so TWiT probably wouldn't say anything bad about them. Just like Carbonite vs. CrashPlan (R. I. P.) or Trackr (which I've heard people having issues with) or Ring (which I've also heard some having issues with). That's not to say it's a bad product at all - just that it would be good to get other unbiased reviews first.
G+_Ben Reese
If I had to recommend gear that I have experience with, it would have to be Ubiquiti. The Unifi APs aren't designed as "mesh", but I believe they can connect to each other wirelessly. Depending on how much area you want to cover with your mesh network, one AP may cover the whole thing. I've mentioned it here before, but I have a 1950's school building covered in wifi by now 3 APs. Walls are all cinder blocks, but I still get probably 100' out of each one.
G+_Jacques Deere
Ben Reese Thanks! I will look into that as an option.
