G+_Sailorlion
I have a question about Amazon Glacier. Is Amazon Glacier is just like Carbonite (TWiT Sponsor) for backing up data?
G+_Akira Yamanita
It's relatively inexpensive cloud storage for data that doesn't change or need to be accessed often. Glacier is simply the storage service (and programming APIs) upon which you could build something like Carbonite.
G+_Dwight E Howell
They store it but you can't just log on and look through your files and download anything at any time as I understand it. This is bulk storage for those with a huge amount of data and really is meant to be a back up for when things seriously go wrong. Yes they will give it back to you but it might take a while thus the name. Glaciers move kind of slow.
G+_Travis Hershberger
Assuming bad analogies here, cloud storage acts like a local hard drive then Glacier acts like a tape drive (cheap for lots of storage space but really, really, really slow to read it back.)
