G+_Warren Blesofsky
During the teleprompter episode Leo said something like "Twit is not Video Podcasting" because you have a proper studio. But the line is def blurred. Huffpost (bad content) uses Google plus instead of satellite. However twit does video feed, etc. I would like to built a small streaming studio. A step or two up from buitlin laptop mics and camera. Am I better off with $200 video camera from costco, or a $500 SLR or 2500 SLR that it looks like some reality tv shows use as 3rd and 4th cameras. My question for the group - What are the essentials for a low budget (under $5,000) streaming video studio? Also where is a good place to learn about RTMP, services like Ooyala Vs Justin.tv or Ustream.
G+_J. Peter Haliburton
My budget video podcasting system consists of an old laptop running Linux, a Logitech C510 webcam, a Blue Yeti microphone, and some earphones from some now unused media player. Certainly under $500. http://www.runningthedistance.com/ We've started recording Google Hangouts to YouTube for the video version, then stripping the sound for the audio version. Audacity is used to produce the final audio version, adding themes and bumpers missing from the video version.
G+_Warren Blesofsky
Cool. Ill check out your channel. That is super low budget! I;m not a Linux guy. I just got the Flash Media Live encoder for windows up and running with Justin.tv and embedded in a wordpress page. Blue Yeti looks promising. Are they better value than a Shure USB mic? So you do audio bumpers but no video editing?

G+_J. Peter Haliburton
We might try to do more with the video later, but the audio versions are priority now. The hangouts make putting together shows, especially with guests, much easier than it used to be with Skype. You can also check things out on Chad's other show: http://www.linuxbasement.com/ I'm just a sidekick. I made a YouTube playlist for the shows I've been in. Linux is not necessary, that's just what I use 95% of the time anyway. Lighting is important for video, as is a good upload speed. I looked around and did some research, and the Yeti was what I decided was the best value, at the time I bought it. I've been happy with it. G+_Warren Blesofsky
Yes Google hangouts seem to be a great leap ahead in ease of use and feasibility. Thanks!!!
