G+_Hector Sotomayor
Need tips to improve my homemade cooler. The styrofoam enclosure has dry ice inside with a Plexi door where R 7 insulation around the edges to keep the cold air in. This is my prototype my next one will be a lot prettier
G+_Robert Hafer
Maybe double pane the plexi door with an air gap for better insulation. How cold does the outside of the door get?
G+_Damien Wessling
Robert Hafer read my mind, I was thinking the same on the double glazing.
G+_Eddie Foy
DITCH! the plexi door!!! tape some masking tape that has been colored black via sharpie on different spots and see with a IR temp gun (or thermal cam if ya got on) and see where its lacking. double glazing it won't help that much if its just air between. G+_Eddie Foy
An offshoot: A couple years back, I was all in on being as green as possible (mainly to reduce utility bills) One thing that struck me and has held to this day, was a layer or two around your kitchen fridge. Just need to feel around for the hot spots of the condenser, that's the last place to insulate.
