G+_Uncle Joe (Uncle Joe Hi
One issue with a merge is that iOS isn't robust enough for serious work. So it's not likely they will merge in their present form. I think the best way to bring them together might be a Macbook Air/iPad device where the screen detaches and runs iOS and merges with a keyboard to run OSX. The downside is that Apple merges two products that it has an interest in keeping separate. OTOH, work machines could continue on in the Pro line while hybrid, consumer devices could live in iPad/iPad Pro level devices.
G+_Tim Allen
IF they did such a thing, it would be fitting that the next numbered version of iOS would be 8.
G+_Dennis A. Deschamps (Dr
It is great that Apple has separated a touch UI with iOS on iPad/iPad mini/iPod Touch/iPhone from OS X & Macintosh even-though are seeing some mimicking of iOS on desktop. One can get greater touch interface by using a Magic Trackpad if they want. No need to confuse the user like Microsoft has done in MSW8x traditional Windows introduced in '95 with its touch based tiled interface.
