G+_Ctusamyeyes Smith
Hello fellow geeks, My topic is about place shifting audio. I purchased a wemo baby monitor from Belkin. (Amazon $25) What I am thinking is to modify it slightly. I would like to tap in where the mic connects to the circuitry and connect a 1/8 female audio connector. It may have to get soldered on to circuit board. I don't know because I have not opened it up yet. Once this is done I could plug any audio source into it. Like from my cable box. This would allow me to listen to any audio from my cable subscription from my cell phone. ( a inexpensive audio Slingbox if you will) I could change the channel with my xfinity app. I have been testing the reliability of connecting to the wemo for several months and I have always been able to connect quickly. The quality is quite good. I would like to get thoughts from the community on the feasibility. I know audio compression would be a concern. I would not be looking for high fidelity audio mainly for talk TV like CNN , local TV News ect. Any thoughts?
G+_610GARAGE
You would need to convert the output of the device to a microphone level. Most likely, you would just need a resistor or a resistor divider to do this.
