G+_Steve C
Dell mail server at home? I saw a really big, expensive Dell mail server at Goodwill for just $49! Maybe it was Hillary's? Anyway, I wonder if there is any use for one of those at home? It's probably too large, noisy and power hungry to be practical but would probably impress all your geeky friends. G+_Travis Hershberger
A Dell mail server? Such a beast does not exist so far as I can find. Poweredge and other models yes. I think someone at Goodwill just doesn't know what in the world they have.
G+_Eddie Foy
You may have issues with being blocked by services like Spamhaus. They will block dynamic IPs. You will need to use a relay to avoid being blocked.

G+_Travis Hershberger
Now I'm interested, it might be a museum piece!
G+_Luke Lavender
Most people say that buissness equipment has no means of being in a home. I strongly disagreee with that, I use real cisco equipment and windows servers on my home network. I never have "bad" connections localy. So if something works, use it. G+_Eddie Foy
Who say not to use big boy toys in the home? (outside of power consumption I see zero reason not to)
G+_Travis Hershberger
Eddie Foy Noise as well. Real server boxes are really noisy. Still, not a big deal imo. I'd rather have a used server than a nas any day.
G+_Steve C
Yeah it had a lot of big fans in it!
G+_Eddie Foy
Travis Hershberger yeah, the catalysts switches and router here is rather loud at start up. But calm down to an acceptable level.
G+_Travis Hershberger
Eddie Foy Yep, I just wouldn't want to live with them in a no air-conditioning in the middle of a southern summer type thing. We got an Eaton 5PX in ~4months ago and that thing screamed for the first day before quieting down. I think it took it that long to get the batteries fully charged. It's saved me from having to deal with loading firmware randomly after brownouts on our label printer tho (yay).
