G+_Steve C
+Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ I tried that SnoopSnitch app that was mentioned on KH, it's still available from the Play store but it's pretty worthless and won't run on my UNLOCKED Samsung phone. It won't run on a lot of other people's phones either according to all the bad reviews it got. There's another one called GSM Spy Finder that does run and has better reviews but it's all in Russian. Can't someone produce an app that works and is also in English?
G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
We mentioned those difficulties in the episode.
G+_Ben Reese
Yup, limited to a specific chipset and only works on rooted devices (not just unlocked).
G+_Steve C
Phone is also Rooted, it won't work on rooted phone either.
G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
Yes... We mentioned that in the episode. We SPECIFICALLY said that it only works with certain chipsets and that your phone needed to be rooted. My guess would be that your chipset is not compatible. G+_Steve C
No, that's not it. I get a message saying "Could not initialize DIAG interface. Visit the website for details: opensource.srlabs.de/projects/snoopsnatch". It doesn't support very many phones saying Stock Android ROM, version 4.1 or later is required, Samsung Galaxy S2 & S3 are not supported and Custom Android ROMs like CyanogenMod may not work. My S2 with CyanogenMod struck out all around.
G+_Jason Marsh
So... the advice given was that it won't work on all phones. And you found one it doesn't work on. Nuff said?
G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
Steve C Please allow me to summarize both the episode and this thread: Me: It's a nice app, but it won't run on most phones. You: It's worthless. It doesn't work on my phone. Me: Yes. We said that was a possibility in the episode. You: But it doesn't run on my phone. Me: Yes. We did mention in the episode that there are only a few chipsets it will work with. You: But you don't get it... It doesn't run on MY phone. Me: sigh
G+_Ben Reese
But wait, I'm not getting that message and it doesn't work on my rooted M8. It must not work on any phone...
