+Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ The shows about building drones are interesting and entertaining but I doubt if anyone who watches them will be able to duplicate the process and build a drone at home that actually flies without factory support like Fr. R. has since most parts are bad and all the software you need to program them is buggy and won't run.

By factory support I mean parts that work and flight controllers that have been programmed and configured so they will work rather that buying them off the shelf and having to program them with crappy shareware that won't run like most of us have to do. I now have 4 bad flight controllers and several dozen versions of Qgroundcontrol and Mission Planner that don't run as well as a couple of airframes that can't actually fly.

I was curious to know if anyone else has ever been able to build a drone that could fly so I went over to the local model shop that has tons of expensive drones including ones so big they look like they could lift a person and asked the guy if there were any clubs for drone builders and flyers that I could join and he said: "No, they are mostly Loners who don't join clubs"! LOL

Steve C We've been over this MANY times... Just because YOU can't build and fly a quadcopter, that doesn't mean it can't be built and flown.

Look through this community and find AT LEAST 2 dozen posts from people who have built and flown... either they are all working for some vast conspiracy, or you  shouldn't be building quadcopters because it just brings you frustration.

Sorry if I'm sounding short, but you go on this rant every few weeks. I gave you your last warning the last time you did... so... please... stop.

Peace,

Fr. Robert

Steve C? (not trying to gangup on you) not everyone is cutout for everything... meaning, maybe quads are not your thing.

What was the last diy/build-from-scratch project you did and felt good about after? If quads are your next step after that, make sure your not stepping too far, too fast. ;)

Brian, that's the Worst job of CGI I've ever seen! You should at least try to make it look believable!? As for building a quad at home it's not possible without factory support no matter what all the lying fanboys say or how many fake videos they put on Youtube because most of the parts you get are bad and none of the software will run so you end up with just an expensive paperweight! Now interest is falling off when people find they have to spend $500, $1000 or $2000 to get one that can actually fly under any sort of control like a Parrot or DJI.
