G+_Rich Mclean
When a computer monitor starts blinking, or goes from low light to brighter light and vice versa, is it a sign of one going bad?
G+_Chris Skinner
It sounds like a bad connection to your video card.Check video cable and connections on both ends
G+_Carl Elton
Rich Mclean Do you have it on Eco mode. I had a couple of monitors do that because of a light sensor. Try turning it off Eco mode and see what happens.
G+_Ben Reese
Could be a bad board (usually a capacitor if so). That would cause it to either not turn on or not stay on (blinking). If it's VGA, check your cables as Chris Skinner? said. If it's HDMI, I don't think that would matter. My bet is on an auto brightest mode like Carl Elton? suggested or on some circuitry going bad. I just replaced a few capacitors on mine a couple weeks ago.
G+_Richard Bell
Assuming that this is for a desktop. I agree with above, check cables and re-seat cards, maybe swap out cables. If the monitor has a power brick, test it or try another one. When was the monitor manufactured? If it is anywhere around 10 yrs old it could be subject to the capacitor plague. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague?wprov=sfla1
G+_Mike B
Could also mean your power board is on the fritz.
