Ok i got one for you all. Need a little help or at least your thoughts. Got a issue with WIFI. on my laptop dell R4110 it will drop WiFi for no reason. I have a Asus RT-N66R router and using the WiFi from the Comcast router. I can switch between routers and reconnect with no issues, i have reloaded drivers and even changed out the pci-e card. Anyone run into this before.

This sounds like the power settings for the network card. The default settings allow the computer to put the network card to sleep. I believe you will find the setting in the Device Manager. Expand the networking setting and right click on the network device. There should be a power setting in there somewhere, disable it and the network card should stop dropping off.

The company I work for, sees this issue in Dell laptops and I thought that might help. These days I spend more time as a DBA and server admin, so I checked with a co-worker, he said the other issue is the Intel Proset wireless software. If you uninstall it, make sure you have downloaded the driver first and then only install the driver. That has resolved the issues we have been seeing.

just the laptop can pickup a tablet while the laptop tray icon shows no internet i can still connect to a website. Also with the same Laptop I can access another PC on the network and transfer files or use remote desktop on the desktop and access internet but IE, Edge and chrome will pop up a message it can not connect to page. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Drivers, complete Win 10 os from fresh install. but if i change from one access point to another i can refresh page and connect for some time. but that time between switch has no reason.

I just went through a similar problem with a Win10 laptop. Random and frequent disconnects from wifi. Setting WiFi to max performance in advanced power settings didn't change behavior. No Intel Pro as it was another wireless chipset with only a basic (WHQL) driver. When it was on the wifi at the shop there were no issues, but they came back within a day of return to the customer. Only that particular laptop was disconnecting from her wifi, but they had other devices that pretty much only connected within the home.

I turned off wifi on her ISP-provided gateway, and set up a 10+ yrs old WRT54G. No more wifi problems from her laptop, and her husband is happy now that the wifi works at the ends of their property. Now she's going to stop leasing gateways from the ISP and really own her home network.
