G+_Ivan Bigelow (Dezmo)
I am travelling to Canada from Ireland for christmas. Does any network in Canada sell a prepay sim i can use in my Ipad mini that gives me 2 or 3 gb of data and let me share the connection using the hotspot for my iPhone 5 and my wife's HTC One?? I have looked online but all the networks want to sell me mifi devices. Thanks
G+_Dale Dubnyk
Unlikely. Where you traveling to in Canada?
G+_Paul Turner
Depends... The major carriers offer month to month, but you might need a local credit card and address... Best deal would be with wind mobile but they're only in major cities and some towns.
G+_Dale Dubnyk
Hence why I ask where your going. Wind is good if your only in major cities. Outside that, you'll need credit check and nothing is prepaid. Prepaid will max out at 1GB a month if you need outside major cities.? I think Canada is worst place on earth for prepaid. They don't understand its purpose here for some reason.
G+_brian creevey
Thank you for the replies. I am going to be in Toronto mostly and a few days at Niagara Falls. So who and what are Wind? And have anyone of you used them? Thank you
G+_Paul Turner
You should have coverage the whole trip then. Www.windmobile.ca you can check out the plans. Wind is a provider outside of the monopoly big three we have in Canada. Maybe check their website if they have any info on overseas visitors. Wind isn't the best provider but they're the best price.? G+_Dale Dubnyk
You should be okay with wind. They're might be the occasional time you fall off wind around Niagara and end up roaming, but I'd say you'll be covered 95% of your trip.

G+_Jeremy Oelke
Thing to think about is Canada is a huge country. In reality or perhaps in Canadian you are traveling to Southern Ontario. It's really important to be specific as most provinces have vastly different mobile phone markets. Where a plan you find works well in southern Ontario likely will be an utter fail in different ways in each Western Canada province.
G+_brian creevey
Thanks for all the input. It turns out that my ipad and iphone don't support AWS. European models are different. If I had a later iphone 5 or 5s I would be fine. So it looks like I'm buying a mobile wifi device when I get there, 99 for device and 35 for the unlimited data. 135 for 2 weeks is still a heck of a lot cheaper than my roaming data fee's would be! I understand different provinces have different providers/coverage but from looking at coverage maps wind seems to have coverage where I will be. It's mainly for Skype or FaceTime as I will be away from my family for the holidays. Thanks for all the help and if anyone wants to buy a lightly used mifi device after January 4th let me know :-)
