Hey Know How, hows about a show on setting up POE cameras and best software for viewing multiple cameras from your Flat screen. Oh and best affordable cameras?

Warning affordable usually means you are taking a hit on something like audio. I have one as a camera in my nursery. Ever since we put it in my wife thinks the house is haunted.

Love the shoe idea though. I want to set it up through either plex or myth tv.

Using POE will allow me to start off with affordable units and upgrade as the prices drop, hopefully. As for Plex and Myth TV, not familiar with these.

My cameras are trend net cameras and as mentioned the sound isnt good but the picture is decent on my HDTV as long as I dont zoom in.

 

Both plex and myth tv are media servers with their own strong points. Plex is a very well refined server with clients for almost if not every platform imaginable and plenty of channels which are extensions for online media.

 

I dont have as much experiance with myth tv but its strong points are it has a PVR function. Plus from the documentation I have read, it also seems to be designed to share the work load across multiple servers in an environment that appears seamless to the end user
