G+_Rud Dog
Had no idea. While shopping for RJ45 connectors was surprised to find there were differing kinds, RJ45 Cat6+ and RJ45 Cat5e. Here I thought the difference was only in the way the cable was constructed? Wonder what happens if you use a Cat 6+ connector in a Cat5e environment or visa versa? G+_Phil Chung
I think the only difference is where the cables connect to the jack. Maybe to accommodate thicker gauge of cat6 cables?
G+_610GARAGE
I accidently bought some cat 6 connectors for cat5e and found that the slots for the wires where bigger. Still worked, but I didn't like it.
G+_Rud Dog
And here I thought it was just the shielding and twisting of the individual wires. Only reason for bringing it up is found out about the new feed thru RJ45's but they are $1.50 each in small quantities and 50 cents each if you order 100. The eye site ain't what it used to be. G+_Ben Reese
I think Cat6 can be up to 22 guage while Cat5e is typically 24 AWG. Probably the biggest difference in connectors.
