Anyone experiencing this? Like watching my Twit programming in the evening and up until  a week or so ago started having a bit of a problem.

My Tivo is my device of choice through which a connection is made via Youtube from there a search and select Twit videos.

Well now the video pauses anywhere from annoying 2 to 10 seconds and it does not settle out. As a test connected to other feed from YouTube and found the same annoying pauses. Finally opened up Netflix and fired up a video and no pausing.

To finalize the testing got on my desktop PC and fired off the same Youtube segements from my Twit.tv selection and no delays.

What in sam hill is going on. Can't see to eliminate anyone segment due to the the mixed results. Ideas?

Internet connection->router->switch->Tivo->Flatscreen TV

I don't have a Tivo anymore (cut the cord a few years back) but I also had problems with youtube on my roku 2 XS. The roku worked great with netflix, but it would choke on youtube every now and then. Probably something to do with how youtube changes video quality depending on bandwidth. Netflix does this too, but perhaps the roku doesn't expect it from youtube and gets confused? Who knows? Youtube playlists usually also didn't work, adds were annoying (and could choke the stream) and it was very difficult to start a video half way though.

Sounds like you are having similar problems with youtube on your streaming device.

I preordered the intel compute stick back in April and had it sitting on my shelf until just a few weeks ago. I didn't know what I would do with it at the time but I had a few ideas and ordered it on a whim. I recently thought, why don't I just replace the roku with my intel compute stick? I ended up getting a USB hub with ethernet, and getting a wireless keyboard/mouse combo and setting it all up over a weekend. The compute stick works great with youtube, and netflix (the stick is windows 8, so you can install the netflix/hulu/etc apps). I moved the roku upstairs to my office to play netflix. I couldn't be happier. Best viewing experience ever.

 Good luck with your Tivo.

I generally liked to watch Twit shows directly from Twit but for the last few weeks the sound has been way out of sync with the video on most of the recorded shows.  It's really bad when I try to watch using one of the Android apps on my Android mini PC connected to my TV.   It's fine for the live broadcast but the recorded ones get to be unwatchable after a few minutes.  YouTube works fine but the shows are harder to find and don't usually show up until a few days after being released so it's a nuisance to watch them there.  All the shows used to play OK until recently but I heard someone on Twit say they are providing the recorded shows in 60 fps now so that could be the problem.

I have noticed that YouTube doesn't play very well using Chrome or Mozilla Firefox in Win 8.1 or Win 10 and tends to pause a lot like you said but it plays OK on I.E so try a different browser if you haven't already.  I don't know about Tivo but Twit plays OK on the Roku too.

Just watched promo on the ICS and was impressed and was wondering since you own one if you could clear up a couple of questions.

Does it use WiFi to connect to my LAN?

Does it connect to BlueTooth devices like headphones ?

Where does it gets it power for operations?

Thanks again.

The Intel compute stick is great for entertainment centers, conference rooms (as a replacement for a projector for presentations when used with a large TV mounted on a wall), and I'm sure as many other applications as you can dream up. However, it is relatively new hardware (April 2015), and has known issues that are still being worked out. If you are adventurous you will have fun. If you want it to "just work" you might want to pass on the Intel compute stick. Besides, the road map promises Windows 10 and USB 3.0 in the future.

The Intel compute stick has Wifi, Bluetooth, 1 standard USB 2.0 port for data, and one micro usb port for power. Has Windows 8.1 with Bing installed.

Make sure you make a Windows recovery disk before you do anything else. You cannot download a recovery disk for "8.1 with Bing" from Microsoft. When I did the backup it said I needed a USB stick with 8 GB for the image. I wasn't sure if it truly needed 8 GB of space, or just an 8 GB stick (slightly less than 8 GB), so I used a 16 GB stick. The image is 5.33 GB on my harddrive, so perhaps an 8 GB stick would do it.

I've not used the Wifi or Bluetooth. I've heard that they have issues working simultaneously. However, there are software upgrades available for Wifi and Bluetooth so perhaps it is fixed now. I used Ethernet through a USB hub so that I would have a solid connection.

It gets power through a micro USB and hooks up to the TV/Monitor through HDMI. Note that the device needs a lot of juice, so your USB output on your TV might not be enough to power it. It comes with a power adapter in case your usb connection doesn't cut it. At home I just use the power adaptor. At work (the "presentation projector setup"), I've got a powered USB hub that has a charging port so I can power off that.

Known issues and things I've run into:

1. Wifi/Bluetooth. Might be fixed, see above.

2. Windows metro apps crash on opening. Fixed with patch.

3. Sound doesn't work with Vizio TVs (still waiting for patch).

4. HDMI can only output sound to one device at a time. If you have the ICS plugged into a monitor, you might not get any sound until you go into the Windows sound settings and set the correct default sound device. I had a monitor with a headphone jack and on-board speakers. I had to disable the on-board speakers to get sound out the headphone jack.

5. When applying updates, the stick might appear to be stuck ("100% working on features"). Just let it be. It may take a few hours to finish. The last thing you want is to power cycle during an update and have it get corrupted.

Last time I had a Tivo, it didn't have any apps. No YouTube, no Netflix, no nothin'. Just $120 a month worth of channels I was never home to watch. And then the DVR harddrive died, and I realized that I really only watched YouTube anyways. From there I ditched paying for TV service entirely. I can only offer suggestions of where to look within the UI.

The Roku can search for stations to install (and can install the TWIT station). Presumably you need to do something similar for your Tivo.

Look for a way to add stations/channels. Perhaps a search feature?
