G+_Rud Dog
Being a big fan of KH and SN something rang a bell and I would like to ask and share. My printer stopped working recently and its was just purchased no more then 6 months ago. Set out to trouble shoot : 1 not the switch tried a working port 2 not the cable tried working cable 3 Reset switch modem and router 4 Reset/powered down the printer 5 Entered all IP network settings from scratch. 6 Checked scan and in fact the printer was not showing up In my frustration decided to switch to WiFi connection which immediately worked. Logged into the printer via WiFi and attempted to setup the Wired connection via this media and to my surprise it repeated failed and it even told me so. What I noticed and wanted to ask/share is the HTTPS:// portion of the address was stuck out with a large redline and google also as I remember warned me it was an unsafe connection. This was is where the bell ringing comes into play. While listening to Steve Gibson on SecurityNow he mentioned this change over which is coming have to do with all URLS to be HTTPS and that Google was forewarning before it becomes the standard. Is it possible this is what is causing my connection to fail? Or am I looking at a normal hardware failure of a semi-brand new printer?
G+_David Simmons
I'm running into similar problem. I can print, but I cannot access the internal webpage of the printer to make any changes because of the ssl error. I guess I'm going to need to get an Windows XP system with IE6 to manage it. G+_Jeff Gros
The red slash just means that the certificate was not verified by Verisign and the like. And that would only be required to log in to configure the printer. We have an epson at work (not sure of the model, I'll have to check tomorrow), which does wired as well as wifi. Note that you cannot do both wired and wireless at once with that Epson. With ours it was kind of a pain to figure out how to get it to switch back to wired once I went wireless. If someone switched it to wifi, this may be your issue.
G+_Akira Yamanita
It sounds like the port on the printer failed. It's unusual, but not unheard of. As for the slash through the HTTPS portion of the URL, it's just showing that the certificate isn't valid and isn't related to the push for HTTPS. G+_Rud Dog
Jeff Gros it was not showing up in either WiFi or hard wired listings just verifying it was never setup for Wireless can cross that one off the list.

G+_Rud Dog
Akira Yamanita that might not be a bad idea remove the associated port and re setup the port.
