G+_Larry Havenstein
I would never use auto. Use WPA2-Personal.
G+_Larry Havenstein
Remember to use a long complex (numbers, capitals, lowercase, and symbols) passphrase.

G+_Jason Perry
If you are an android person you can make an RFID tag to help you cope with a long complicated password. I can't remember mine
G+_Rud Dog
Agreed password phrase combos have been a favorite of mine for years it helps me remember my wife's passwords for those times she says "you told me you would remember it" and so life is good. G+_Keith Mallett
Rudy Trujillo You should choose the best type that will work for the devices that you need to connect to the wifi access point. Some older devices don't support newer methods. Here is a good link that explains the basics. http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-1821090/selecting-security-option-homes.html
G+_Jason Marsh
Indeed, your devices will dictate the encryption used. I'm using WPA2 Personal -AES on every AP I setup because everything just works with it.
G+_Larry Havenstein
WPA2 Personal -AES is the most secure of the shared key schemes currently and like you said everything semi recent (last 10 years about) can work with it.
