G+_Rud Dog
Have a laptop sitting without wireless enabled and no ethernet cable plugged into the unit. Now if I run 'ipconfig /all' the response for all connections is "Media disconnected". Launch Advanced IP Scanner then enter 192.168.1.0/24. The results it comes back with: My-Laptop 192.168.1.7 How is this possible. Shutdown IP Scanner thinking it had some sort of cache which would be ridiculous but desperate times..... and it still shows up????? And when I try and run 'ipconfig /release' I get "The requested operation requires elevation. Huh? Someone has got to be out to get me. Ideas? G+_Akira Yamanita
Open an elevated command prompt (right click and run as administrator). Also try ipconfig /flushdns
G+_Rud Dog
Correct needed to run cmd prompt as admin and indeed the 'ipconfig /flushdns' worked the 'ipconfig /release' did not it returned: This operation failed as no adapter is in the state permissible for this operation. Which led me to check on the settings only to find the interface was not set to DHCP but manually set. So guessing anytime this is set manually the program IP Advanced Scanner checks the settings and if manually entered reports the IP address regardless if the connection is made or not. When the IP assignment for the laptop was changed to dhcp and IP Advanced Scanner was run it no longer reported the interface as being on line. Wonders never cease?
