G+_Tim Box
This is the first time I stopped listening to an TNT episode. At 8:33 I was hit by smugness of the guest you've invited. "He's so happy to only know about Macs", fine, invite him to MBW. If you want to be on the best tech show you can't admit to knowing only one platform. You can be biased, but be informed. G+_Akshay Sharma
He did seem a little spaced out! I was waiting for Tom to do an Apple story and then ask him, "Now, do you have an opinion?"
G+_Alexa Krueger
I thought it was kind of weird as well. On the pre-show, everyone introduced themselves to him which is not unusual. I would rather see TNT with no guest rather than one who isn't up on tech in general. FWIW Darren Kitchen always rocks it on Fridays.
G+_Jerry Ham
I thought it was a strange choice as well. I would be a much better guest that he was.
G+_Alexa Krueger
Jerry Ham I think any regular listener of TWiT.tv would be a better guest. Damn, I'm being all snarky this morning. To their credit I think the guy was a writer and sometimes writers are more more eloquent when read than they are IRL.
G+_Craig Lambert
I thought the same thing. He seemed a bit "Apple Arrogant" but I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, hoping he just came off wrong. It rubbed me to wrong way too but I listened to the whole podcast. G+_Emil “opi” Oppeln-Broni
Craig Lambert I have a pretty big backlog of podcasts and very, very short fuse when it comes to being annoyed. It may be overreaction on my part but I really have high expectation when it comes to TWiT stuff. I don't think there's one person who does not have their preference. Paul and Marry Jo, Sarha and Leo, Jason, Jeff and Gina. We know their biases and they are still people who can discuss other platforms in details without coming off as a arrogant asses. G+_John Little
That guy did serve one purpose, proves there is a bigger apple fan boy/girl than even Sarah :)
G+_Craig Lambert
Emil Oppeln-Bronikowski Paul has been annoying me for the last year and a half to be honest. He just doesn't seem happy doing what he does any longer. I still listen to the show but I've really lost interest for the most part.
G+_Colin Willson
Emil Oppeln-Bronikowski I don't think you are overreacting, I came here to comment the same thing. I was disgusted by his arrogance and I'm happy he still hasn't spoken again so far as I've listened.
G+_Craig Lambert
We're all fanboys / fangirls to one extent. It's how we portray ourselves to others that matters.
G+_Colin Willson
Craig Lambert Paul does seems to be complaining about what Microsoft has been doing a lot lately, but I think it must be hard to be a Microsoft reporter when everyone is complaining about Windows 8 for no good reason. I like that Paul is honest enough to say when Microsoft is doing something wrong but stands by their products. On shows like MacBreak Weekly you would only see the second part of that... G+_John Little
.The difference was in his closed minded attitude. He brought nothing to the table and added no value to the show.
G+_Emil “opi” Oppeln-Broni
I like Paul's honesty. It's pretty sobering but him being straight shooter made me appreciate Microsoft and realize how hard it is for them to do something that will please everyone. Hell, I even have one Windows 7 laptop and I really, really like it. I wouldn't have if not for Paul's honesty. Plus he's an ex Amiga user and reads fantastic books. I can't be mad at him. ;-)
G+_jeremy abney
I love the show but thought that Apple dude brought nothing to the show, I'm not an apple fan, but I know there stuff and if asked can give a opinion.
G+_MR D
he came off as an idiot. I wager anyone in this thread could have done a 100x better job. we all have Skype. we all love tech. kinda disappointing.
G+_Mark Richards
I missed the episode so checked it out tonight. Wow. He wouldn't fit in on MacBreak either.
G+_Errol Bruce-Knapp
Awkward moment... not noted by the others. Not during or after TNT. Perhaps off-cam/mic? Seemingly not a good return guest...
G+_Darrell Klar
Craig Lambert Wow... I thought it was just me - Paul's demeanor has changed in the last 12-18 months.
